Innocent Asian Man Almost Blinded After Being Stabbed in the Face in Front of His Queens Home

His wounds were so severe that he was almost permanently blinded and was left with a brain hemorrhage.

A Chinese man, who goes by the surname Zheng, was attacked in front of his home in Flushing, NY this past Friday and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency care.

Mrs. Zheng reported that on the night of the 19th, around 9pm, she called her husband’s mobile phone, after which a stranger answered and told Mrs. Zheng that an ambulance was passing by their house but that they didn’t know whether her husband was inside. Mrs. Zheng wasn’t able to reach her husband until the 20th, when she spoke with him over video call due to COVID-19 visitation restrictions.

She discovered that her husband was attacked the night before between 7 pm and 8 pm in front of their home around 134th Street in Flushing. After the attack, he lost consciousness but woke up soon later with blood all over his body. Because no valuable items were stolen, she believes that the incident was an anti-Asian hate crime.

This incident is just one in a slew of recent anti-Asian hate crimes that have happened across the nation. The New York City Police Department says that the case is still under investigation. If you have any information regarding this attack, please call the crime prevention hotline (800) 577-TIPS or visit the crime prevention website https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/.
