A brutal unprovoked attack left a 68-year-old Asian man, identified as Narayange Bodhi, bloodied on a New York City subway this past Friday afternoon. The seemingly random attack occurred aboard a northbound 1 train Friday afternoon around 2:40 pm. Bodhi was commuting to work when the suspect came up to him, said “You. You Asian motherf**ker” and punched him.
George Okrepkie, a 9/11 survivor who witnessed the crime and originally posted about the incident on Facebook, told NBC4 that he was in shock, “I could not believe that somebody would attack a man of that age. Before I could even look he was standing on top of him.”

Okrepkie attempted to grab the attacker but the perpetrator escaped out the subway doors. He then took off his scarf, wrapped it around Bodhi’s wounds, and stayed with him until help came.
The suspected attacker is 36-year-old Marc Mathieu, who was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault.
