Karen Chen Revealed That Her Beautiful Figure Skating Dress for the 2022 Winter Olympics Was Handmade By Her Mom

Karen Chen recently revealed that her beautiful figure skating dress that she wore while competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics was handmade by her mother.
Last week, the 22-year-old figure skater helped Team USA win a silver medal in the team competition with her performances in the short program and the free skate. For her free skate performance “Butterfly’s Lovers’ Concerto”, she wore a dazzling purple dress arranged by her mother.
Chen spoke to The New York Times about her mother’s dresses, “It’s hard to explain, but I just feel the best when I wear them.”
Chen’s mother Hsiu-Hui Tseng said she started making dresses for her daughter very early on in her skating career after they realized that pre-made dresses were uncomfortable for Chen to compete in. “Her body is very sensitive, and so her dresses need to fit in a certain way,” Tseng told the Times. “So I said, ‘I’ll see what I can do’ and solved that issue on my own.”
She continued, “I barely slept at all, but I wanted to make something really special. I know in the future I won’t have this chance because she will have a different life, and I will miss this.”
