16-Year-Old Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa Becomes the Youngest Chess Player Ever to Defeat World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen

He became only the third Indian grandmaster to win against Carlsen.

16-year-old Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa has become the youngest chess player ever to defeat world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen.

The 16-year-old, nicknamed Pragg, became only the third Indian grandmaster to win against Carlsen, who became World Champion in 2013. “I’m just very happy,” he said afterwards. Pragg is one of the rising stars in chess, previously becoming the youngest international master in history at the age of 10.

When asked how he was going to celebrate, he said, “It’s about time to go to bed.”
