Riz Ahmed Made History at the Oscars Becoming the First Asian to Win for Best Live Action Short Film

Riz Ahmed made history at this year’s Academy Awards, becoming the first person of Asian descent and the first Muslim to win in the category of ‘Live-Action Short Film’.

Ahmed, who is British-Pakistani, won the award for his role in the short film, ‘The Long Goodbye’, which he co-wrote and starred in. The film is described as the following: “An immigrant family in Britain is preparing its home for a wedding celebration, until a right-wing march spirals out of control and chaos erupts.”
