Pixar Animation Studios recently announced that ‘Turning Red’ and ‘Bao’ director Domee Shi has been promoted to a leadership role at the company, as reported by Variety.

Shi has been named vice president of creative and will join a group of fellow Pixar directors in guiding the studio’s filmmakers as they explore their productions and the studio’s general creative future.

Shi started at Pixar as an intern, then progressed to a story artist, before eventually winning an Academy Award for her 2018 short ‘Bao’ and becoming the first woman ever to be a solo director on a Pixar feature with ‘Turning Red’.
