Michelle Yeoh Becomes the First Asian Artist to Receive an Honorary Doctorate from the American Film Institute

Michelle Yeoh has become the first Asian artist to receive an honorary doctorate from the American Film Institute (AFI).
Yeoh was awarded the doctorate “for contributions of distinction to the art of the moving image” as originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter and will be honored at a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater on August 13th.
Yeoh, who’s had a long and distinguished cinematic career, is currently generating Oscar buzz for her role in A24’s breakout hit ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.
