Japan beat Germany for the first time ever in a stunning upset at the 2022 World Cup.

Germany entered the tournament as one of the favorites to win it all, but has now lost the opening game of the group stage for two World Cups in a row after Japan pulled off an incredible comeback victory. This also marks the first time since 1978 that Germany lost a World Cup match that they were leading at the half.

Germany is set to face Spain next, while Japan will face Costa Rica.
