Virginia is celebrating its first official ‘Kimchi Day’ today to recognize the state’s growing Korean American community.

The date (11/22), which is also a national holiday in Korea, is significant because there are 11 main ingredients in the staple dish as well as 22 recorded health benefits.

Virginia is now the second state to celebrate ‘Kimchi Day’ after California passed a bill to recognize the day last year.
