The previous record was held by Nigeria’s Ifeanyi Chiejine.

16-year-old Casey Yu-jin Phair has made history as the youngest ever player in the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Phair, who is also the first South Korean player of mixed heritage to represent South Korea at the World Cup, resides in New Jersey but opted to play for South Korea due to her connection with her mother’s heritage.

The previous record was held by Nigeria’s Ifeanyi Chiejine when she competed in the 1999 World Cup.
